Please arrive early to your scheduled appointment time with complete new patient paperwork, current photo identification, insurance card, and any referrals from outside dentist. During your registration visit, our staff member will review your application and insurance information. We will also provide you with clinic information and policies. A new patient screening appointment for a future date will be made after registration is completed.
During your screening visit you will meet with one of our faculty who will discuss the dental services you seek with you and evaluate your dental condition. There is no cost for this initial screening. Because our facility is a teaching clinic where students perform the majority of patient care under the supervision of faculty, treatment does take more time to be completed than it would take in a private practice setting, and not all patient treatment needs are appropriate for a dental school setting. If both you and the faculty dentist decide that our clinic is the right place for you, the faculty dentist will determine if X-rays are needed. There will be a charge for X-rays. If you have current full mouth X-rays, please bring them with you.
After the oral health screening and X-rays are complete, a student dentist is assigned to you. Your student dentist will then contact you to schedule your next visit to begin a comprehensive dental examination process. Depending upon the complexity of your oral health needs, and because we stress excellence and thoroughness at Pacific, this exam process could take more than one appointment.
No dental treatment such as a cleaning or a filling, will be started on you until the comprehensive examination is completed and all treatment options and costs have been explained to you. All dental care, including the comprehensive examination, is supervised by licensed faculty dentists.
